Experience Books
An experience book is basically a collection of objects and things based on a specific theme. For example, if you are taking your child on a nature walk outside, you might like to have your child collect things (i.e. leaves, flowers, sand, sticks, pine needles, etc.) to include in his/her experience book. The theme for this book might be "Outdoors" or "Nature Walk." The idea is to create books based on different themes. Creating a variety of books allows your child to revist, touch, and experience that particular event again. Remember to sign along with your child as he/she revisits the pages of the experience book. In talking about the pictures, and or objects, you are providing your child with a rich language experience as well as a great keepsake for the future.
